The 31st Annual AAPI Convention will be held this weekend at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Chicago. http://aapiusa.org/ http://www.aapiconvention.org This prestigious organization is the largest ethnic medical organization in the US. They represent the interests of over 60,000 physicians and 15,000 medical students and residents of Indian heritage in the United States. The AAPI spearheads legislative agendas on health care and influencing the advancement of ethnic medical organizations. Did you know that 10%-12% of medical students entering US schools are of Indian origin?

Indian physicians have made significant contributions to health care in the US (and Canada) and with more doctors required they will take a leading role in the future not just in the US but globally. There are 125,500 Physicians of Indian Origin working in the English speaking Western world (USA, UK, Australia and Canada combined). In the US there is a shortage of doctors and groups like the AAPI are vital as they seek to pressure policymakers.
