Christine Sun Kim is a sound artist and composer who finds ways to explore sounds with sign language. Kim was born deaf and she learned that sound could either elude or empower her. She decided to let it empower her as she allowed sound into her art practice. Kim said that just because she does not use her literal voice in society, it doesn't mean she doesn't have one.
Kim continues onto a demonstration and discussion about sign language. She points out that sign language is thriving even though we may live in an audio centric world. This TEDTalk is very powerful as she invites the crowd to open their eyes and ears to experience their own visual language.
