Establishment of SJSM

Under the leadership and vision of Dr. Kallol Guha, Saint James School of Medicine (SJSM) was founded, receiving a charter from the government of Bonaire to establish a medical school. This marked the beginning of a transformative journey in medical education.

Inauguration of Bonaire Campus

SJSM welcomed its first cohort of students to the Bonaire campus, embarking on a mission to provide quality medical education in a vibrant learning environment.

First Graduate

A momentous occasion as SJSM celebrated its first graduate, marking the culmination of years of dedication and hard work by both faculty and students.

Expansion to Anguilla

In recognition of its commitment to excellence, SJSM received a charter from the island of Anguilla, expanding its reach and impact in the Caribbean region.

Accreditation Achievement

The Anguilla campus received accreditation from the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP), affirming SJSM's adherence to the highest standards of medical education.

Expansion of Bonaire Campus

With the inauguration of the Anguilla campus, SJSM continued its mission to nurture future generations of healthcare professionals in a supportive and dynamic academic environment.

Realizing that the demand for the school’s program will continue to grow, the leadership of the school decided to further expand the facilities in Bonaire by opening a satellite campus in the region of Hato. This move has significantly improved the school’s facilities and infrastructure conducive to learning.

Relocation to St. Vincent & the Grenadines

Following the political changes in Bonaire, SJSM's Bonaire campus relocated to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, further enhancing its infrastructure and resources to better serve its students and faculty.

Adaptation to Online Teaching

In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, SJSM demonstrated resilience and adaptability by shifting its teaching to online platforms for the first time in its history, ensuring continuity in education amidst unprecedented challenges.

Construction of New Campus

SJSM embarked on a new chapter of growth and development with the commencement of construction on the new campus on the island of St. Vincent, poised to provide state-of-the-art facilities and resources for future generations of medical professionals.
